Uniqueness of Piecewise Smooth Weak Solutions of Multidimensional Degenerate Parabolic Equations1

چکیده
We study the degenerate parabolic equation ut +∇ · f = ∇ · (Q∇u) + g, where (x, t) ∈ R ×R+, the flux ~ f , the viscosity coefficient Q and the source term g depend on (x, t, u) and Q is nonnegative definite. Due to the possible degeneracy, weak solutions are considered. In general, these solutions are not uniquely determined by the initial data and, therefore, additional conditions must be imposed in order to guarantee uniqueness. We consider here the subclass of piecewise smooth weak solutions, i.e., continuous solutions which are Csmooth everywhere apart from a closed nowhere dense collection of smooth manifolds. We show that the solution operator is L-stable in this subclass and, consequently, that piecewise smooth weak solutions are uniquely determined by the initial data.

متن کاملParabolic SPDEs degenerating on the boundary of non-smooth domain
Degenerate stochastic partial differential equations of divergence and non-divergence forms are considered in non-smooth domains. Existence and uniqueness results are given in weighted Sobolev spaces, and Hölder estimates of the solutions are presented
متن کاملStudy of weak solutions for parabolic variational inequalities with nonstandard growth conditions
In this paper, we study the degenerate parabolic variational inequality problem in a bounded domain. First, the weak solutions of the variational inequality are defined. Second, the existence and uniqueness of the solutions in the weak sense are proved by using the penalty method and the reduction method.
متن کاملSecond order mean field games with degenerate diffusion and local coupling
We analyze a (possibly degenerate) second order mean field games system of partial differential equations. The distinguishing features of the model considered are (1) that it is not uniformly parabolic, including the first order case as a possibility, and (2) the coupling is a local operator on the density. As a result we look for weak, not smooth, solutions. Our main result is the existence an...
متن کاملUniqueness of L solutions for multidimensional BSDEs and for systems of degenerate parabolic PDEs with superlinear growth generator
We deal with the unique solvability of multidimensional backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) with a p-integrable terminal condition (p > 1) and a superlinear growth generator. We introduce a new local condition, on the generator (see Assumption (H4)), then we show that it ensures the existence and uniqueness, as well as the L-stability of solutions. Since the generator is of super...
